Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

Solar & Energy Gain CIC (SEG CIC) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all areas of our work. We strongly oppose all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking, and we take active steps to ensure these practices do not occur in our operations or supply chain.

As a Community Interest Company, our purpose is to deliver community benefit through renewable energy projects. Protecting people and promoting fairness are central to our mission.

Our Organisation and Supply Chain

SEG CIC develops, funds, and delivers renewable energy projects with and for community groups, schools, housing associations, and other partners.

Our supply chain includes manufacturers, distributors, contractors, installers, and service providers in the UK and internationally. We recognise that some sectors, particularly manufacturing and construction, carry a higher risk of modern slavery. We take steps to identify and mitigate those risks.

Our Commitment and Policies

To ensure modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our operations, SEG CIC has put in place:

  • Supplier Code of Conduct – requiring all suppliers and contractors to comply with anti-slavery laws and ethical labour practices.

  • Due Diligence & Risk Assessments – reviewing suppliers and partners for potential risks of modern slavery.

  • Whistleblowing Procedure – enabling employees, partners, and stakeholders to report concerns confidentially.

  • Fair Employment Practices – verifying that all workers engaged directly by SEG CIC or on our projects have the legal right to work in the UK and are employed on fair terms.

Supplier Due Diligence

We work only with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to ethical practices. This includes:

  • Reviewing supplier policies on labour standards.

  • Ensuring compliance with national and international labour laws.

  • Requesting evidence of compliance or conducting audits where appropriate.

Any supplier found to be engaging in unethical labour practices will face corrective action, including potential termination of the relationship.

Employee Awareness and Training

We provide training and guidance to relevant staff and directors to help them identify risks and report concerns. We encourage vigilance and responsibility at every level of our organisation.

Continuous Improvement

As a CIC, we are committed to continuous improvement. We will review this statement annually, strengthen our processes where necessary, and maintain open dialogue with our partners and communities about ethical and fair practice.

Reporting Concerns

We encourage anyone with concerns about modern slavery linked to SEG CIC to contact us directly at info@segcic.org. All reports will be treated seriously, confidentially, and investigated appropriately.

Approval and Review

This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors of Solar & Energy Gain CIC and will be reviewed annually. It is published on our website in line with our transparency and accountability commitments as a Community Interest Company.
