Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy

Policy Statement

Solar & Energy Gain CIC (SEG CIC) is committed to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, ethics, transparency, and professionalism in all dealings with communities, partners, suppliers, funders, and stakeholders.

As a Community Interest Company, we operate on a not-for-profit basis to maximise community benefit. We have a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption, fully complying with the UK Bribery Act 2010 and all relevant regulations.

Bribery and corruption damage trust, harm our reputation, and undermine our mission to deliver fair and sustainable renewable energy solutions.

Purpose

This policy ensures that SEG CIC:

  • Prevents bribery and corruption in all operations.

  • Sets clear standards of conduct for staff, directors, and partners.

  • Complies with UK anti-bribery legislation.

  • Safeguards public trust, community confidence, and our social mission.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All SEG CIC employees, directors, officers, interns, contractors, and volunteers.

  • Agents, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, funders, and any third parties representing SEG CIC.

Prohibited Practices

Strictly prohibited under this policy:

  • Offering, giving, requesting, or accepting bribes in any form.

  • Making facilitation payments or “kickbacks.”

  • Providing or accepting excessive gifts or hospitality intended to improperly influence decisions.

  • Ignoring or failing to report suspected bribery or corruption.

Reasonable and proportionate hospitality may be permitted where it is transparent, lawful, and not intended to secure an improper advantage.

Due Diligence and Third Parties

SEG CIC will:

  • Conduct due diligence before engaging with suppliers, contractors, or partners.

  • Include anti-bribery clauses in agreements.

  • Monitor relationships for any signs of unethical behaviour.

Reporting Concerns

We encourage openness and integrity. Concerns about suspected bribery or corruption should be reported immediately to the Board of Directors via info@segcic.org. Reports will be handled confidentially and without fear of retaliation.

Breaches of this policy may result in:

  • Disciplinary action (including dismissal).

  • Termination of contracts or partnerships.

  • Reporting to relevant authorities, with potential legal prosecution.

Training and Awareness

  • All staff, directors, and representatives will receive anti-bribery training appropriate to their roles.

  • Policy awareness will be reinforced through inductions, meetings, and periodic updates.

Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors, or sooner if legislation changes or risks emerge. Monitoring ensures compliance and continuous improvement.
